California Community Schools: Supporting Statewide Educational Priorities

The California Community Schools Partnership Act of 2021, codified in California Education Code sections 8900–8902, established a statewide framework for expanding whole-child educational support through the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP).

California expanded the program in 2022, and the 2026 state budget established additional ongoing funding under Education Code section 8903.

The Community Schools model emphasizes four interconnected pillars:

  1. Integrated Student Support Services

  2. Family and Community Engagement

  3. Collaborative Leadership and Practices

  4. Extended Learning Time and Opportunities

Education Through a Lens helps schools translate these priorities into practical strategies, professional learning opportunities, family engagement initiatives, and educational programs tailored to their communities.

We tailor our services using school-level data, student demographics, English learner needs, stakeholder perspectives, and community assets to develop practical strategies that reflect each school's priorities.

Our goal is to help districts translate the Community Schools Framework into meaningful actions that are measurable, sustainable, and responsive to the families they serve.
